No Complacency at Manchester City says Richards
Manchester City right-back, Micah Richards, insists that there will be no complacency in the camp when the Premier League champions bid to retain their title next season.
The Blues have enjoyed a renaissance under the Abu Dhabi United Group. Big-money signings have been a feature of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan's four-year reign at the club.
City secured their first FA Cup triumph since 1969 in May of last year and followed that up with their first league title in 44 years last term, with many sports betting experts predicting a period of dominance for the club.
However, Richards, who has been with City since he was a schoolboy, does not expect an easy ride to the title in the upcoming campaign, with as many as five clubs challenging for their crown.
"I don't think it's going to be easy. People say we're going to go and walk the title but I don't think that's the case," he told Sky Sports.
"I see everyone as big threats really. Obviously, Spurs have got a new manager and players will be going there to improve and show people what they can do. Manchester United, as usual; Chelsea have spent some decent money in the summer, so they'll be looking. Arsenal always are about, and Liverpool."
Richards is currently training with Team GB ahead of the Olympics. The 24-year-old is relishing the opportunity of representing his nation on the world stage.
"When I had a chance to come and join Team GB it was an honour for me to do that," Richards added.
"Obviously players are going to be disappointed not to go to the Euros, but once I got the chance with GB, it's going to be amazing and it's time to show everyone what I can do."
City are the odds betting favourites for the title, closely followed by Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
